Home satellite radio setup

Home satellite radio systems perform best when the antenna is placed where it has a direct view of the sky. Even a small placement mistake can keep the signal weak or prevent activation from completing.

1. Place the antenna on a south-facing window or exterior wall with direct sky access.

2. Run the cable without sharp bends and keep it away from power cords.

3. Connect the antenna firmly to the receiver and power on the unit.

4. Find the radio ID in the settings menu or one of the receiver labels.

5. Finish activation and wait for the signal to arrive with the antenna in place.

Placement matters most

The antenna must be in a clear, open area and not behind a roof edge, tree line, or neighboring structure. If the receiver works indoors but fails outside, the problem is usually placement rather than activation.

If your setup still fails after the antenna and cable are correct, a signal refresh or a quick call with a specialist can resolve the last blocker in minutes.
