Satellite radio setup guide

Follow this setup guide in order to connect the antenna, locate the radio ID, complete activation, and confirm the signal before you try advanced troubleshooting.

1

Connect the antenna firmly to the receiver and check both ends of the cable.

2

Position the antenna with a clear view of the sky and avoid metal obstructions.

3

Power on the receiver and allow the full startup sequence to finish.

4

Open the settings or information menu and find the radio ID or device ID.

5

Submit the radio ID for activation and wait with the receiver powered on in open sky.

6

Run a full channel scan and confirm audio plays on a non-preview channel.

Why setup fails

Most setup problems happen because the antenna is loose, the radio ID is copied incorrectly, or the receiver was turned off before the activation signal arrived.

When you are installing a satellite radio in a car, home, marine, or portable setup, your antenna must maintain a clear line to the sky. If the antenna is blocked by metal, a garage roof, a tree canopy, or a tinted windshield, the signal will not complete properly.

Once the antenna is secure and the radio ID is confirmed, activation usually completes in 10–15 minutes. The receiver must stay on during the full window while the signal arrives.

Simple checklist before you call

  • Check the antenna cable at both ends.
  • Make sure the receiver has a clear sky view.
  • Write the radio ID exactly as shown.
  • Keep the receiver powered on during activation.
  • Run a full channel scan after activation completes.
