Activation guide
Satellite radio activation guide
Activation is the step that connects your receiver to the service and allows channels to load. If the setup is correct but the signal does not arrive, the issue is usually an antenna placement problem, a radio ID mistake, or the receiver being turned off too early.
How activation works
Your receiver sends the radio ID to the service systems. The service then authorizes the receiver and sends the activation signal through the satellite network. Your antenna must have a clear sky view while this happens, and the receiver must stay on the whole time.
That is why a subscription can appear "stuck" even when the account is active. The receiver may simply be in a location where the signal cannot reach it during the activation window.
1. Confirm the antenna is connected correctly and the receiver has a clear sky view.
2. Find the radio ID, ESN, or device ID in the receiver settings menu or on the label.
3. Submit the radio ID for activation and keep the receiver powered on in open sky.
4. Wait 10–15 minutes for the activation signal to arrive before assuming it failed.
5. Run a channel scan after the signal is accepted and audio starts playing.
Most common activation mistakes
- Typing the radio ID incorrectly.
- Placing the antenna under a roof, tree cover, or metallic obstruction.
- Turning the receiver off before the activation signal finishes arriving.
- Using a receiver that is still linked to a previous account.
When activation fails, do not keep retrying blindly. Confirm the antenna position, check the radio ID one character at a time, and then request a signal refresh if the account is already active.
